This comes after the USAID pulled major funding, which the government of Zimbabwe benefited from. The Zimbabwe government has been overreliant on donor funding to cover its shortcomings in providing crucial healthcare to its people. This raises so many questions about what happens to the revenues collected from the AIDS levies collected from all working classes -are the funds mismisappropriated? Zimbabwe i one of the countries in Sub Saharan Africa in which HIV is still a major concern. Data from UNAIDS shows that there are still new acquisitions of the virus in their 1000s. This is ample evidence that should make the relevant authorities step up their efforts in providing the basic antiretroviral (ARV) drugs for people living with HIV.

Concluding, African countries hav a tendency of giving awe inspiring promises and commitments on international for, whilst doing too little in their countries. The withdrawal of USAID funding is a wake up call to get African countries to prioritize their healthcare provision.

End.
