 Today, I was at Star FM with lawyer and SRHR specialist Victor Chirimuta to discuss the issues above mentioned. It is disheartening that we have adults having sex with children. How evil and base is that?! Before we address issues to do with justice. As citizens we should be asking ourselves if we are all are mentally sane, because no normal person will ever bed a child. The unfortunate thing is that the criminal has not been arrested yet. Even in cases where they are arrested, they are soon freed on bail, never to be arrested again. We have so many laws protecting children in Zimbabwe, the Children's Act, the constitution etc. But we're failing to bw accountable as a nation. These stories should be angering us as citizens. But it is sad to find that the media is focusing more on the biological fascination of an 8 year old girl getting pregnant. We should be angry about a young girl being raped. The City of Harare (CoH) has been digging up trenches in number of streets in the CBD area. I only later learnt that they were for street lights electric wiring. I remember we once had solar powered street lights so I was confused as to why they were now switching to electricity. One citizen informed me that the solar panels were vandalized that's why the CoH made the switch. So firstly, shame on us! We vandalize on public property which is supposed to help us all. What sort of mentality do we have when we steal solar panels intented for streetlighting. On the other hand, CoH engineers should have been aware of this from the start. Now implementing this project is now using up resources which need not have been used in the first place.
