 Mashonaland Branch Members, Here is a matter we as Mashonaland Birders should take note of seriously! There is a proposal to develop 105 houses on Monavale Vlei! The area is where Mashonaland Branch of Birdlife Zimbabwe has a monthly Monavale Vlei walk! It is the same area where visitors come in Summer to see Streaky- breasted Flufftails and Striped Crakes. The most well known site in Southern Africa where these birds may be seen! If this area of vlei is lost there are no other conserved areas where these birds are as easily seen. The vlei is a Ramsar site and has been well protected for a number of years by COSMO. It is a very valuable natural green space within Harare used by naturalists and students of all ages, a place where many vlei species of plants, birds and frogs including bullfrogs may still be found within Harare!  So am here at Highfield Satellite Clinic in Highfield, Harare. There are patients who need treatment, parents with children who needs their routine checkups and shots outside at the children's section, patients who need wound dressings and people who need Covid 19 vaccine shots.  Now this isn't surprising at all because that's the normal outlook at a medical facility center. The huge piece of shocking information is that there is one nurse doing all this work at the whole clinic! One nurse writing the cardsx treating the children, treating and dressing patients an attending to people in need of C19 vaccine! How awful is that! One can only wonder where the other nurses are. Most probably on strike. City of Hre must prioritize the health of its residents. They are taxpayers after all and it is their right to get healthcare.
