Investing in Women means investing in development

Note to Women.

Happy International Women's day to all women and girls in their diversity.

This day means you are special and that you are amazing. You defy the odds and are better at what you do. Being a women means that you are resilient, you go above expectations. Whilst the world say you cant, you say, I can. You bring life and joy into the world. You hold up our families and teach values to our young ones and care for them. You are brave. In the face of adversity you protect your own. Continue making this world better through your actions.

This is your day! Smile. 💟

Women face man inequalities and many injustices. The year is 2024 but women are underrepresented in our governments, boardrooms, lecture halls etc. Stories of female genital mutilation, GBV, sexual assaults still creeps on the news pages. Gender equality is something we all love to speak about with little action or practice. Women are no different to men. They are equal to men, physical appearance mean nothing. Women have proved time and again to do great things in any field from social science to technology and development. We cannot simply ignore their efforts at a time when we are just left with 6 years to reach the culmination of the 2030 Agenda. The SDGs are possible if everyone is 'on board' - working together. Women need better empowerment and better representation in all aspects. Now ''imagine living together as one'' like John Lennon sang on the Beatles song, that would obviously make a lot of difference. We would have everyone working together for the common good. The practice 'Leave no one should become more evident. As we plan on our companies/institutions and other associations' future plans, let us bear in mind that we must be inclusive and bear in mind that we need to be gender equal. Now why is this important? It means we set ourselves on the right path to achieve sustainable development. Yes! Let us do our best and urge our governments and institutions to:

- stand up for women's rights.

- invest in girl's education.

- prevent all forms of violence against women.

- stop femicide.

- better inclusion and representation of women in all institutions.

 I attended the World Food Forum (WFF) in Rome that was held from the 14th – 18th of October at the United Nations (UN) Food & Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Headquarters in Rome, Italy. I joined over 400 young leaders, world experts, government representatives and indigenous people in deciding the future of agri-food systems and policies. The theme of this year’s forum was Good food for all, today and tomorrow. I attended as a delegate of the World Organisation of Scouts Movement (WOSM/Scouts) & a member of the GOAL NextGen Youth Network. The events were organised around three main pillars – Global Youth Action, Science and Innovation and the Hand in Hand Investment forum. Review of the National launch of Zimbabwe's Climate Change Management Bill

Zimbabwe through the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife Management launched the national consultations on the Climate Change Management Bill yesterday on the 27th of May. Consultation at the Harare International conference Centre. The Bill came through a process of drafting the principles of the Bill, which was done in November 2023. The Climate Change Management Bill seeks to create legislation that enables Zimbabwe to effectively respond to the impacts of climate change, build climate resilience, promote low carbon development, establish a climate change fund and comply with international obligations on climate change management and ozone layer protection. Increasing national actions to end Tuberculosis

 Today we commemorated World TB Day. [Images from SAYWHAT pages]  Back in the 1800s, Robert Koch discovered mycobacterium tuberculosis, a bacteria which causes tuberculosis (TB) on this day. TB aka consumption is a deadly disease which claim the lives of more than a million people each year! The number one cause of death amongst people living with HIV is TB. Now it is interesting that TB has been around for ages! Some scientists have found TB caused deterioration on some bones of Egyptian mummies. You may be wondering with me how a disease gets to be around for so long. Well, for starters TB spreads through the air, making it difficult to contain. Also, TB is now resisting some antibiotics making it difficult to completely obliterate the bacteria from a person's body. However, it is not all gloomy. It is actually possible to beat TB.
