Sunday at the vlei

 I hadn't been out in the field for some time, today I joined the Mashonaland walk at Monavale vlei. I will do a more detailed article on wetlands on world wetlands day in February. For now, take a look on the amazing biodiversity I experienced today.

 I have had the opportunity this past week to travel a huge part of the country (explains why I was not updating the blog) and in the process have met a lot of youths in different settings. It is sad to say that everyone I met is facing a common challenge which is lack of employment and opportunities to find a living in this country. It is very troubling that only a few young persons out of school have jobs whilst the rest are miserably unemployed and with no prospect of getting a decent job. The few who are employed are getting petty wages and are exposed to ill working conditions. As our industry has been left at the mercy of foreign nationals, the rule of law has been made less effective and few have the stomach to report their employers to the Labour Court. Zimbabwe's amazing biodiversity

 We have two main seasons in Zimbabwe, summer and winter - no fall, autumn; that sort of thing. With summer our natural environments are teeming with beauty and amazing life. I'll share some highlights from some of my acquaintances around the country. Olive Grass snake - Mamba Dan, Headlands. By constantly processing information of our surroundings and improving the outcome based on real-time data we have evolved to become the superior species on the planet.
