Pollution in the Mukuvisi river

We have had a pretty long holiday, thank whoever who put the Zimbabwean Heroes and Defence forces Days on a Monday and Tuesday. Because of the abundant time I had, I decided to do a visit to a little patch of riverine bushes near my area. This spot is where the Mukuvisi river snakes its way to Glen Norah suburbs. The moment I reached there I was a greeted by a heavy stench that filled the air and irritated my lungs which were happily filling my air sacks with the pleasant early morning air. Ok, am surprised why the City of Harare isn't doing anything to fine the and stop the companies who are dumping their refuse into the river. By the way, Mukuvisi is one of the tributaries of Lake Chivero from which our city gets its water from. Now, we should be more responsible eey because we're drinking this water for goodness sake! I for one stopped buying fish from Chivero, no sane person would enjoy eating a fish that's swimming in acid, sewer and all the gross stuff filled waters. City of Harare really need to seriously think about what sort of actions to take. Much has been written about the effects of this pollution to our biodiversity and the health of all Harare residents. I hope this will reach someone important higher up.
