Dead ZUPCO buses all over Harare roads.

At first I think the reintroduction of ZUPCO buses as the sore transport providers restored a little bit of sanity to the city which was now overrun by private commuter owners who saw it fit to park wherever they want and broke traffic rules at will. However the ZUPCO monopoly got out of hand, they were ill prepared to meet with the transport demands and as a well to cope with the pressure they introduced dead forgotten old buses back on the road which are always breaking down and crushing into people's cars and premises.

A few days ago I went into the city centre using Willowvale Rd and counted 4 buses which were broken down in the middle of the road, creating ttaffic mayhem and unwanted jams. One vehicle owner unfortunately got his motor crushed into because the bus had lost its brakes.

I met a driver who remarked that at one point he nearly killed passengers when he lost control of the brakes and said he had to use his expertise to stop the bus. These are crazy stories. We need reliable and safe public transportation. I call on the government to deliver on its promises of providing better transportation. On the other hand I applaud the GHACO transport association which was formed to allow private players back into the game. There is however need to see that they charge fair prices.
